Relaxing in the backyard aka, napping in the back
Went to visit a friend in Buffalo and had Glenda come with me on a whim. Â I wish we could have stayed at her place longer because it was so relaxing just reading by the pool.
We headed to Niagara Falls after getting a late lunch to meet Alberta.
I thought we were just going to hang out and wait for the fireworks but we were surprised with a free walking tour of Goat Island put on by the New York Parks and Rec.
You know the one where everyone on the American side seems to be touching the falls.
I kind of wished I knew we were doing this that way I wasn’t  wearing a skirt or my flip flops.

Poison Ivy
Our guide was awesome.  She spoke about the island and the plants in the area such as poison ivy or that Monarch butterflies caterpillars only eat milkweed plants and they attach themselves to the plant when they turn into butterflies.

Reservoir in the Niagara River
The falls on the U.S. side was magnificent. The sheer volume of it is ridiculous.
Who would have thought that the bridge structure diverts water from the Niagara River to reservoirs in both the U.S. and Canada, it can divert as much as 50,000 to 100,000 cubic feet per second*. Crazy right!
I would recommend to anyone to take the day and visit the US side.
Go to the Niagara Parks and Rec and see what free events are available.
